The most difficult part when planning an orienteering course is to estimate the winning time, i.e. the time that is needed to complete the course on the optimal route. The problem is that the speed of the athlete is different on the different terrains (road, elevation, rocks, underbrush, etc). The task of the group is to estimate the time needed for completing a given route taking into account the different terrains. The details on the map iare given in an xml-like format. After that an optional task is the determination of the optimal route (which takes the less time to complete).  The used programming language and technology can be chosen by the group.
