Seminar Invitation
The Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Systems
invites you to the seminar entitled:
“Electrodermal Correlates of Metamemory: An Exploratory Study of Confidence and Engagement in Virtual Reality.”
Presenting: Namrouti Hanan M. A.

Date: 22nd April 2026
Time: 14:00
Venue: University of Pannonia, building I, 214.
This study explores whether electrodermal activity (EDA) can serve as a physiological marker of metamemory—our awareness of our memory—during a virtual reality color-matching task. Participants first viewed real objects and then reproduced their colors in VR while their skin conductance was recorded.
We found that higher EDA amplitude measures were moderately associated with greater memory confidence and certainty, suggesting a potential link between peripheral physiology and “strong” memory states. Although these findings are preliminary, they point toward the possibility of using physiological signals to infer user confidence in real time.
This work contributes to the development of adaptive, “confidence-aware”
VR systems that can adjust task demands based on users’ internal cognitive states.
Please, join us for this presentation!
